'Doctor Strange' and Mads Mikkelsen to open CPH PIX

Published

When this year's festival kicks off on Oct. 27th, Mads Mikkelsen will take center stage as he presents the gala premiere of Marvel's 'Doctor Strange'.

It's official: The 8th edition of CPH PIX will launch with Marvel's star studded blockbuster 'Doctor Strange'.

In the role of Doctor Stephen Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch plays opposite Mads Mikkelsen, who in turn portrays villain Kaecilius in one of his most monumental international roles to date. With Scott Derrickson in the directors chair, Doctor Strange is a different, more philosophical and mystical character, who will make for an opening night like no other. On the night in question, Mikkelsen will share the stage with the recipient of the Nordic Film Award, which is handed out to a new, Danish talent every year.

'Doctor Strange' is set to premiere in selected territories on the 28th of October and in the States one week after the gala premiere at PIX. In addition to Mikkelsen and Cumberbatch, the film boasts a cast of stars like Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
